Ventana de transferencias de enero: Paul Merson sobre Alexander Isak al Arsenal, Trent Alexander-Arnold al Real Madrid y el reemplazo de Rodri | Noticias de fútbol

But make no mistake, he will go to Real Madrid. There’s no doubt about that. He will end up there at some stage, but I’d be shocked if it’s in January.

He’s got a long way to go yet and he’s a special player, a special talent. Let’s hope we can keep him for as long as possible because he’s a joy to watch.

‘Man City need a Rodri replacement to rescue their season’

They need another midfielder. They need a Rodri replacement – they haven’t got one. They’ve got all these attacking players, but when he’s not playing, they miss him.

Bring in a holding midfielder because they need one. They need someone who can hold the fort, sit in front of the back four and play the ball.

City are not the same when he’s not playing. You can see the difference, especially against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg, they missed him big time.

They need somebody who can come in and do that job. They need a Rodri replacement, simple as that.

It will be interesting to see how these potential transfers and contract negotiations play out over the course of the January transfer window. Stay tuned for more updates and analysis from Paul Merson and the Sky Sports team.

But in terms of Trent’s future, I think he will stay at Liverpool. He’s a local lad, he’s a key player for the team, and I believe he will want to continue to be a part of the success they are having.
