Title in Spanish: Pisé una bomba en Afganistán. Correr a ciegas salvó mi vida

In 2009, Wali Noori was working as an interpreter for the British Army in Afghanistan when tragedy struck – he stepped on an explosive device, leaving him completely blind at just 20 years old. Despite this devastating setback, Wali refused to give up on his love for running and his determination to live life to the fullest.

Growing up in Kabul, Wali was a talented boxer and runner, using his skills to stay fit and support his struggling family. When he joined the British Army as a translator, he never imagined the challenges he would face in Helmand Province, including the life-changing moment when he was injured by an IED.

After surviving the explosion and facing dark days of uncertainty, Wali found hope and support in his family, especially his wife who became his rock during his darkest moments. With her encouragement, Wali moved to the UK and found a new sense of freedom and purpose through running.

Despite his blindness, Wali has achieved incredible feats, including winning gold medals at the Invictus Games and dreaming of competing in the Paralympic Games. His resilience and determination serve as an inspiration to all, as he continues to push forward and never surrender to his blindness. On the 15th anniversary of losing his sight, Wali’s book detailing his remarkable journey will be published, showcasing the extraordinary strength and spirit of this incredible individual.

Nunca me rendiré a mi ceguera.
