Former New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, a Republican, recently left office after eight years with some of the highest approval ratings among all 50 governors in the country. Sununu credited his success to his team and emphasized the importance of surrounding oneself with great people in order to be a successful executive. He expressed pride in the progress made during his tenure and highlighted the importance of being results-driven in serving the citizens of New Hampshire. His successor, former Senator Kelly Ayotte, praised Sununu for his leadership and the positive direction in which the state is heading.
Despite some criticisms from Democrats, Sununu remains focused on his future outside of politics. While he has ruled out running for office in the near future, he has not completely closed the door on the possibility of returning to public service down the road. Sununu is also considering a media role and expressed interest in staying involved in politics in some capacity. Although he had been critical of former President Trump in the past, Sununu ultimately endorsed Trump’s rival, Nikki Haley, in the 2024 GOP presidential nomination race. However, he later voiced support for Trump after the former president secured the nomination.
Sununu remains optimistic about the future of the Republican Party, emphasizing its diversity and growth.
