A draft of the House Ethics Committee report revealed that former Rep. Matt Gaetz was accused of using illegal drugs like cocaine and ecstasy while engaging in paid sexual encounters with numerous women, including a 17-year-old high school junior. The report stated that Gaetz allegedly paid over $90,000 to 12 different women, who were likely involved in sexual activities and drug use. Despite denying the allegations and attempting to block the report’s release, Gaetz ultimately resigned from Congress amid the scandal. The report also detailed instances of drug- and sex-fueled parties, with witnesses claiming Gaetz used ecstasy and had sexual encounters with multiple women, some of whom felt their ability to consent may have been impaired. Additionally, the report alleged that Gaetz accepted a prohibited free private plane ride and provided substantial evidence of his illicit drug use, including text messages requesting drugs and witness accounts of him using cocaine and ecstasy. Former friend Joel Greenberg, currently serving time for various crimes, also reportedly provided information to the committee about Gaetz’s drug use.
