Fast forward four months and Chelsea have now been knocked out of the FA Cup by Brighton, with Palmer again on the scoresheet – this time against his parent club.
It was a night to forget for Thomas Tuchel’s side, who were outplayed and outclassed by Graham Potter’s Seagulls. The defeat means Chelsea have now won just one of their last six matches in all competitions.
The lack of goals is a real concern for Tuchel, with Romelu Lukaku still struggling for form and Kai Havertz unable to find the back of the net consistently.
Chelsea have now been dumped out of both domestic cup competitions and are facing a real battle to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.
Questions will be asked of Tuchel and his tactics in the coming weeks, with the pressure mounting on the German manager.

After a rocky start, the 22-year-old grew into the game and proved to be United’s most creative outlet. His crossing was pinpoint and he provided the assist for Mason Greenwood’s goal just before half-time.
With the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho struggling to make an impact, Dorgu’s performance was a welcome sight for United fans. Despite the eventual 2-1 loss, Dorgu’s debut was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing performance.
