They bring calmness to the team, they bring that experience of being in those situations before. They know what it takes to win games for England.
So, for me, it is about getting those three in and building the team around them. Then you can bring in the young players and give them that experience alongside the senior players.
That is how you build a successful team for tournaments like the Champions Trophy.
It will be interesting to see how England’s white-ball team shapes up in the coming months and whether they take Hussain’s advice on board.
So, I think it’s a good time to take a step back and just reassess where they’re at, see what they’ve learned over the last few years, and then take it from there.
Buttler is a fantastic captain and player, and I think he just needs to figure out his role within the team in order to be the best leader he can be.
