They are a fantastic team, they’ve got a lot of great people there, Lando’s doing an amazing job, and so is Daniel [Ricciardo]. They deserve it and they’re definitely the team to beat at the moment.
It’s encouraging for everyone because it shows that it’s possible to make that leap and be back at the front.
Hamilton added that Mercedes are still working hard to improve their car and close the gap to the front, but that McLaren’s recent success is a sign of the competitiveness of the sport.
But for McLaren, they’re just in dreamland at the moment and they’re going to be looking at the Constructors’ Championship and thinking ‘this is really on now’. It’s just unbelievable how quickly things can change in Formula 1.
