Los Maestros: Rory McIlroy orgulloso de su resistencia en el ‘reset’ de Augusta National para impulsar sus esperanzas de Grand Slam | Noticias de Golf

But I spoke to Bob last night and just sort of chatted to him a little bit, and that was nice, just to get a few things off my chest. And then, yeah, I mean, went to bed, slept okay, and then woke up this morning knowing that I was going to have a chance to do what I did today.

McIlroy is seeking to become just the sixth player to complete the career Grand Slam by winning The Masters, and he feels his past experiences at Augusta National have helped him develop the mental resilience needed to contend.

I think just being able to have those experiences to fall back on, like the back nine in 2011 when I was able to shoot 31, and then obviously 2018 when I shot 30 on the back nine, just being able to have those experiences to fall back on definitely helps, he added.

And I think it just shows that you can have two bad holes and come back and do some good things and just put it out of your mind. So, yeah, it’s all part of it, and I’m just glad that I was able to get it back today and get myself somewhat into contention going into the weekend.

He reacted beautifully today and he’s kept himself in the tournament. He’s got to stay in the present, keep doing what he’s doing, and just add the odd birdie here and there. He’s got to keep doing what he’s doing, he’s done nothing wrong. Just keep playing his game and I think he’s in a great position.
