Francesca Gillett from BBC News and Nick Thorpe from BBC News, Budapest, along with Getty Images, reported that four women who claim they were sexually abused by social media influencer Andrew Tate are urging the US not to interfere in his case in Romania. The women expressed concerns over reports that US officials had requested Romania to relax travel restrictions against Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate, who hold dual UK-US nationality.

Lawyer Matthew Jury, representing the alleged victims, stated that they were puzzled by the Trump administration’s interference in the case, even though Romania denied being pressured by the US. Tate and his brother, facing allegations of rape, trafficking minors, and money laundering in Romania, have denied all charges. They are also wanted by UK authorities for similar allegations, which they also deny.

The Tate brothers are currently prohibited from leaving Romania, although they are no longer under house arrest. The US State Department has been asked for comment on the matter. The Romanian government, a key US ally, finds itself in a challenging position amid the controversy surrounding the Tate case.
