La tendencia de las dietas basadas en insectos sigue en aumento

Would you like to try mealworm meatballs or a salad with a side of crickets? With recent changes in the food industry, these unconventional choices may soon be appearing on restaurant menus.

Singapore is quickly moving towards a more insect-inclusive diet, with the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) approving the import of insects and insect products for human consumption. This approval, set to take effect immediately, marks a significant step forward in the acceptance of insect-based foods.1

SFA Gives Green Light to 16 Insects for Human Consumption

News about Singapore expanding its edible insect offerings first emerged in late 2022. By the end of 2023, it was expected that the SFA would approve 16 types of insects for human consumption or animal feed.2 However, the approval was delayed until July 8, 2024, when the agency finally granted permission for these insects to be used as food. According to the SFA’s press release:3

“As the insect industry is still developing and insects are a novel food item here, the SFA has established an insect regulatory framework to guide the approval of insects as food. With immediate effect, the SFA will permit the import of insects and insect products from species deemed to pose low regulatory concerns.”

The list of 16 approved insect species includes adult house crickets, grasshoppers, Superworm beetle mealworms, Whitegrub larvae, and Silk moth pupa, among others.4 Various insect-containing products, such as insect oil, pasta with insects, and chocolate with insect ingredients, are also allowed for import.5

Local restaurants in Singapore are preparing to introduce insect-infused dishes to attract adventurous customers. House of Seafood, for example, plans to offer a menu featuring sushi garnished with silkworms and crispy crickets, as well as salted egg crab with silkworms.6

Insects: The ‘Future’ of Food

Advocates of insect-based food point out that humans have a long history of consuming insects and promote it as a sign of innovation and trendiness. Insects are already used in some processed foods, with cricket and mealworm flour being discreetly included in various products.7

According to a study, over 2,200 insect species are consumed worldwide, with countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America leading the trend. In North America, the edible insect sector is growing rapidly, driven by consumer demand for sustainable food options.11

While insects have historically been consumed for survival purposes, they are now being marketed as a delicacy in some regions. However, concerns remain about the lack of regulation and information for consumers with food sensitivities. This is particularly important as insects can trigger allergies in sensitive individuals.20

Research has shown that individuals with shellfish allergies may experience similar allergic reactions when consuming insects, as both contain the primary allergen tropomyosin. This protein is found in both shellfish and various insects like crickets and grasshoppers. Despite the known risks of adding insects to food without proper labeling, there is a push to promote insect consumption as part of a “green agenda” to control people’s food choices.

While insects are touted as a sustainable source of protein by organizations like the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization, the promotion of insect consumption is seen as a tactic to manipulate and control individuals. The globalists behind this agenda aim to normalize unappealing food options under the guise of sustainability, while overlooking regenerative farming practices that could reduce the need for harmful chemicals.

In a disturbing turn of events, there are even discussions about promoting cannibalism through the development of products like the “Ouroboros Steak,” which uses human cells as the main ingredient. Synthetic meats, approved by regulatory bodies like the FDA, are also being introduced into the market despite concerns about their environmental impact and potential health risks.

Ultimately, the push towards insect-based and lab-grown foods is part of a larger scheme to dismantle traditional farming methods and make the population reliant on processed, patented foods. The World Economic Forum, spearheading these changes, aims to exert authoritarian control over food systems, threatening health, food security, and individual freedoms. It is crucial to question and resist these manipulative agendas in order to safeguard our health and independence. En cambio, hay otras opciones más viables disponibles para ayudar a abordar todas nuestras preocupaciones ambientales existentes.
