A group of Indian men who were deceived into fighting for Russian forces in the war against Ukraine have been discharged near the Russia-Ukraine border. The Indian government announced that 91 Indians were duped into joining the conflict, with some already returning home and others in the process of being brought back. The men, mostly from poor families, were promised money and jobs but instead found themselves in the war zone with little military training. Nine Indians have died in the conflict, and 19 people have been arrested for human trafficking. Following a promise by Russia to release all Indian fighters, 45 have been discharged so far.
