It was a difficult session for Ferrari as Charles Leclerc crashed out early, but Carlos Sainz managed to put in a solid performance to finish third. Mercedes, on the other hand, seemed to struggle with rear-tyre wear in the hot conditions, with George Russell in fifth and Lewis Hamilton in seventh.
Sergio Perez, under pressure to perform, did well to finish fourth despite not having all the upgrades on his Red Bull car. Kevin Magnussen also had a good showing for Haas, finishing in sixth place.
Overall, it was a strong session for Lando Norris and McLaren, as they set the pace ahead of Max Verstappen and the rest of the field. It will be interesting to see how the teams adjust for qualifying and the race based on the data from Practice Two.
Despite the mistake, Leclerc remained optimistic and focused on bouncing back for the rest of the weekend. “It’s a mistake from my side, I’ll learn from it and I’ll come back stronger tomorrow,” he said.
With Ferrari’s history of quick turnaround times for repairs, Leclerc and his team are hopeful that they can rectify the damage and be competitive for the rest of the Grand Prix weekend.
As for Piastri, the young driver will look to bounce back from a challenging day and improve his performance in the next session. With the unpredictability of the Hungarian Grand Prix, anything can happen, and both drivers will be looking to make the most of their opportunities on race day.
