We’ve worked on that in training, trying to win the ball back as high up the pitch as we can. Obviously, we’ve conceded goals, but I think we’ve looked a lot more solid in recent weeks. We’re trying to build on that and keep improving, keep working on things that we can do better. It’s always a work in progress, football, you’re always trying to get better and improve on things that you can.
I think as a defence, we’ve always tried to be solid, keep clean sheets, and obviously, we haven’t done that as much as we would have liked. But I think we’ve been working on it, we’ve been improving, and hopefully, we can continue to do that and keep getting better as the season goes on.
Continuing to push
Evans on the message from the coaching staff: The message from the coaching staff is always positive, always looking to improve. I think they’ve been very consistent in their approach, in trying to keep the players positive and keep pushing us to get better every day.
Obviously, it’s been a difficult start to the season, but I think the coaching staff has been really good in trying to keep everyone’s spirits up and keep everyone focused on the task at hand. It’s always about trying to get better, trying to improve, and keep pushing forward. I think that’s the mentality that they’ve instilled in us, and we’re all trying to buy into that and keep pushing forward.
Overall, I think we’re all just trying to stay positive, keep working hard, and hopefully, the results will come. It’s a long season, and there’s still a lot of games to play. We just need to keep pushing, keep improving, and hopefully, we can turn things around and start getting the results that we want.
They can tell if a team is trying, if they’re giving everything they can, and I think that’s something that we’re definitely doing at the moment. So hopefully we can turn it around and start getting the results that we need.”
