We are a professional club and our players understand the importance of representing Manchester United. We have a lot of pride in our performances and we will continue to work hard to turn things around.
As for Wayne Rooney’s comments, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But I can assure you that our players are committed to the cause and will always give their best on the field. We are focused on the upcoming games and will do everything we can to finish the season on a positive note.
Merson echoed Keane’s sentiments, saying: Injuries are not an excuse. You have to play through them sometimes. If you can’t play through them, you have to be honest and hold your hands up and say you can’t play. But if you’re fit enough to play, go out there and play.
It’s a tough one because you can’t question someone’s injury, but at the same time, if you’re fit enough to play, you have to play. That’s part and parcel of being a footballer. If you’re not fit enough, you have to hold your hands up and say you’re not fit enough.
It’s a difficult one, but at the end of the day, you have to do what you can do.
