Despite having his goal controversially ruled out, Cameron Archer was a constant threat to the Brighton defense and was unlucky not to have his name on the scoresheet. He showed great movement and composure in front of goal, earning him the man of the match award.
But we feel really hard done by. I’m fed up of talking about VAR and officials, but it’s such a huge part of the game now and the interpretation of a penalty situation can still be human error. It’s frustrating.
Brighton pressed for an equaliser but Southampton held on for a valuable three points in their battle against relegation.
