El Abierto: Rory McIlroy vencido por el viento mientras la sequía de grandes torneos continúa con la eliminación en Royal Troon | Noticias de Golf

It was just one of those weeks where I wasn’t quite on. It’s been a bit of a struggle for a while, not just this week. I need to play a bit better.

McIlroy will now turn his attention to the Olympics, where he will represent Ireland in Tokyo, before heading to the United States for the FedExCup Play-Offs and Ryder Cup later in the year.

The 32-year-old has not won a major since the 2014 PGA Championship and will now have to wait until next year’s Masters for his next chance to complete the career Grand Slam.

But when the wind dropped, my game felt a little more comfortable. I was able to hit some good shots and make a couple of birdies coming in, which was nice. It’s just a shame that I wasn’t able to do that earlier in the round to give myself a chance of making the cut.

Despite his struggles, McIlroy remained positive and focused on finishing the tournament strong.

“I’ll take a lot of positives from the way I finished,” he said. “I hit some good shots, made some birdies, and hopefully, I can carry that momentum into the weekend and finish the tournament on a high note.”
