But when something like this happens, you realise that your health is the most important thing. So, I think it’s a reminder for everybody that you need to look after yourself, your family, your friends, and the people around you.
What are your plans for the future?
Well, at the moment, nothing. I’ve been watching a lot of football, I’ve been to a lot of games. I’m following the teams that I played for, Ajax, Fulham, United, and of course the Dutch national team. But at the moment, nothing. I’m enjoying life, enjoying my family and friends, and hopefully, something will come on my path that will make me tick again and get that challenge going. But at the moment, nothing on the horizon.
And finally, Ruben Amorim has been appointed as the new manager of Manchester United. What are your thoughts on that?
I think he’s a great coach, he’s doing a fantastic job at Sporting Lisbon. I think he’s a guy who is young, modern, knows how to deal with players and how to get the best out of them. He’s done a fantastic job at Sporting Lisbon. Will he be a success at Manchester United? I don’t know. Time will tell. But hopefully, he will do well and bring Manchester United back to where they belong.
Thank you, Edwin, for sharing your story with us. We wish you all the best in your continued recovery and future endeavors.
There needs to be a clear vision and direction set by the leadership at the top in order for the club to be successful. The restructuring at Manchester United is a step in the right direction to ensure that everyone is working towards the same goal and that there is a clear plan in place. Leadership from the top is crucial in any organization, especially in football clubs where there is so much at stake. It’s important to have the right people in place to make the right decisions and lead the club to success.
