Thompson, who finished in a tie for third at the ANNIKA, echoed Korda’s sentiments and believes more needs to be done to address the issue of slow play on the LPGA Tour.
I agree with Charley, Thompson said. There needs to be something done about it. We can’t be playing five-hour rounds. It’s not good for anybody. It’s not good for the players. It’s not good for the spectators. It’s not good for the game.
Thompson suggested that implementing a shot clock, similar to what is used on the European Tour, could help speed up play and hold players accountable for their pace of play.
Hopefully, they can do something like the European Tour where they have a shot clock, Thompson said. It would definitely speed up play. It would be fun to watch. It would keep everybody on their toes.
As the conversation around slow play continues to gain momentum, it will be interesting to see if any changes are made to address the issue on the LPGA Tour moving forward.
