Many in the tennis world believe that Murray would make an excellent coach, given his knowledge of the game and his ability to inspire others. James Blake is one of those who sees coaching as a natural next step for Murray.
With his retirement from playing, Murray now has the opportunity to pass on his wisdom and experience to the next generation of tennis players. It would bring him joy to see his coaching make a difference in the lives of young athletes.
While Murray’s competitive playing days may be over, his legacy in the sport of tennis is secure. As he transitions into a coaching role, he will continue to be a positive influence on the game and those who play it.
He’s an absolute legend. It was an honour to compete against him. I loved all of our matches, they were so interesting because he didn’t have just one tool in the arsenal. He could beat you so many different ways, but it was fun, Blake said.
You have to think a lot when you’re playing him and respect his athleticism, respect his brain, and the hard work is what I always thought about him. I also loved the fact that he was so competitive, so intense on the court, and off the court, he’s just such a great guy.
To be able to represent Team GB alongside him was such an honor. He’s made such a difference not just to British tennis, but to women’s tennis as well. He’s made it more of a conversation, and I’m proud of what he’s done for women’s tennis.
