“PITTSBURGH — In Steel City, there is an alleged aspiring Hamas terrorist who supports Squad Democrats.
The FBI and Pittsburgh police arrested two Pittsburgh-area residents on hate-crime charges for vandalizing Jewish buildings in July.
One of the individuals, Mohamad Hamad, who identified himself as a “Hamas operative,” purchased and tested explosive materials for a potential explosion. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard stationed near Pittsburgh International Airport.
The US and Lebanese citizen also supported Squad Democrats who have criticized Israel and advocated for an arms embargo on the country. Talya Lubit, who was charged as Hamad’s accomplice in defacing Jewish buildings, expressed anti-Semitic sentiments and supported anti-Israel resolutions.
According to Jeremy Kazzaz, executive director of the Beacon Coalition, there has been an increase in anti-Israel extremism within the Democratic Party in Pittsburgh.
These arrests follow incidents of anti-Semitic violence against Jewish students at the University of Pittsburgh, as well as concerns about anti-Semitism within the Democratic Party nationwide.
Hamad, who expressed desires to become a martyr for Islam, purchased explosive materials and planned a future explosion. He also communicated with Lubit about defacing Jewish buildings.
Kazzaz expressed concerns that Hamad may have been planning an attack on the Jewish community in Pittsburgh.
Both Hamad and Lubit were involved in anti-Israel activism and supported Squad members in the Democratic Party.
Hamad donated to Squad members Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, while Lubit signed a letter defending Rep. Summer Lee’s anti-Israel statements.
