This synthetic rennet can have negative health effects, disrupting gut health and causing allergenic responses.

Despite the FDA’s approval of GMO rennet, concerns remain about its long-term effects on health. The use of GMO rennet in cheese production compromises the quality and nutritional value of the final product, making it difficult to digest.

Consuming cheese is beneficial for its calcium content, essential for bone and dental health. However, misconceptions about dairy products have led to a shift towards plant-based alternatives, contributing to health issues. Low calcium intake can lead to an imbalance in the calcium-to-phosphorus ratio, affecting bone health and metabolism.

Manufacturers add phosphate to commercial cheese, exacerbating the imbalance between calcium and phosphorus. It is increasingly challenging to maintain adequate calcium intake, highlighting the importance of traditional, high-quality cheese for overall health. “We aim for a calcium-to-phosphorus ratio as close to 1-1 as possible. This emphasizes the importance of incorporating traditionally made cheeses into your diet, not just as a guilty pleasure, but as a staple, health-supporting food choice.”
